Texans will sign Tim Boyle to their practice squad
According to several sources, the Texans are adding quarterback Tim Boyle, a free agent, to their practice squad. Tuesday Boyle did team workouts.
Since being diagnosed with a concussion against the Jets nine days ago, C.J. Stroud's return seems uncertain. Coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday he remained in concussion protocol.
Case Keenum took over for Stroud as the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Titans, with Davis Mills serving as his backup.
The Patriots were able to acquire quarterback Nathan Rourke after the Texans submitted a waiver claim for him. Rourke was ultimately acquired by the Patriots.
Boyle, who came from Eastern Kentucky and entered the league as an undrafted free agent, has played for the Packers, Lions, Bears, and Jets. He previously played for the Packers.
His 56.2 passer rating came from completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 360 yards, a touchdown, and four interceptions in two Jets games. Jets started 0-2 under him.
