Rice explains why he wants CMC to break his 49ers TD record

Jerry Rice broke a lot of NFL records during his long and successful career. But one of his all-time records could be broken by a current 49ers player.

Christian McCaffrey has 20 touchdowns in 2023, two shy of Rice's 1987 49ers franchise record of 22.

Fred Warner, an All-Pro linebacker for the 49ers, asked Rice on the podcast "The Warner House" if he wants to see the record broken.

It was revealed that the famous wide receiver wants McCaffrey to score even more touchdowns.

"I think records are meant to be broken," Rice told Warner. "What he brings to the table is from the line of scrimmage and from running with the ball."

It's fun to break records. It was a blessing to play with so many great players, and I think [McCaffrey] is getting the same thing.

He works hard, is a complete ball player, and is humble. So it's fine. I have many records, okay? Sharing some of those records is fine."
