John Harbaugh: Keaton Mitchell out for season with serious knee injury

John Harbaugh told reporters in his press conference after the Ravens' 23-7 win over the Jaguars that Mitchell's knee injury will end his 2023 season.

"Heartbreaking," said Harbaugh. "He has a great demeanor. His success is your goal. His success is deserved.

Mitchell was an undrafted rookie from East Carolina who had rushed for 323 yards and two touchdowns at 8.5 yards per carry before Sunday's game.

He added 73 yards on nine carries in Week 15 before leaving. Mitchell made a 13-yard run with the non-contact injury midway through the fourth quarter.

To replace Mitchell, Harbaugh said the Ravens will use practice squad player Melvin Gordon. "He works hard," Harbaugh said. Great shape, ready to go."

Mitchell ran around the right end for a 13-yard gain early in the fourth quarter and was dragged down. In obvious pain, he grabbed his leg

Soon after, Mitchell was helped off the field and taken to the locker room after a brief medical tent stay.
