GP2 details knowing ‘soft' Garnett as kid growing up around NBA

Growing up with an NBA Hall of Famer father, Warriors two-way guard Gary Payton II was used to being around big-time players who were friends of “The Glove.”

Golden State's Payton revealed a secret side to one intimidating Hall of Famer when recalling childhood memories of basketball's biggest stars.

Payton discussed his fun relationship with Kevin Garnett as a kid on the latest “Dubs Talk” podcast with Dalton Johnson and Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area.

"I remember when Minnesota [Timberwolves] came in," Payton told Poole and Johnson.Garrett and [Payton Sr.] were close friends.

After games, Kevin would dine at our house. I would mess with KG on the court before games.

I got KG soft. Large, soft KG teddy bear. I saw ‘that side’ later in life. Yes, I'd say. He's unique. KG always brings the fire. Love it."

While Payton loved his time with “soft” Garnett, his dad's fame brought him many other players.
