Some 1972 Lincoln Memorial Cents had an embarrassing error when the U.S. Mint released them.

Experts estimate 20,000 error coins were accidentally made with Abe's profile's “Liberty” on the left and “1972” on the right doubled.

The 2004 Wisconsin quarter depicts a cow, cheese wheel, and corn ear. One variant is worth much more than 25 cents.

The “Extra Leaf Low” quarter has a left-side corn leaf that touches the cheese wheel due to its lower position.

The U.S. Mint inserted a 2000 Lincoln cent into 10 million boxes of Cheerios, 5,500 of which contained the Sacagawea dollar, to promote its new “Golden Dollar”.

But some of those dollars were a little different from the rest; the backs had extra eagle tail feathers on them.

Coin World reports that the U.S. Mint issued 47,000 uncirculated 2008-W American Eagle silver coins with 2007 reverse dies.
